Going Old School with the Moka Pot

This year marks the 90th anniversary of when the moka pot was invented. When using the moka pot, there are usually two distinct camps: those who swear by it and those who swear at it. You’re either hot or cold about it, with very little middle ground.

Brewing Coffee in a Stanley Lunch Box

For all of its criticisms, social media is a lot of fun. How many things have we learned or discovered by mindlessly scrolling through Reels or TikTok? Having plumbing issues? Need lawn care help? Want to find new life hacks for almost anything? There’s a funny video out there that will help you. The same goes with coffee and finding new ways and places to brew coffee … including in (or on) a Stanley Classic lunch box.

What's It Like Brewing Coffee with the Wacaco Pipamoka?

The Pipamoka by Wacaco falls squarely into the immersion category. By immersion, I’m talking about adding water to the grounds and letting them sit (or immerse) for a specific period of time before filtering the coffee grinds and pouring out the brewed coffee. Coffee in a French press stays immersed for 4 minutes, whereas the coffee in an Aeropress is less than 2 minutes. So what is the Pipamoka, and how does it work?

Road Tripping, Van Life, and Brewing Coffee with the Wacaco Cuppamoka

For the first several years of Loam Coffee’s existence, we never had a van or anything like that. Whenever we did events, we’d move stuff around in my SUV, set up tents, etc. But that all changed once Nacho the MTB Van came into my life … What that also means is every time I head out of town on a road trip with Nacho, I grab a couple of different coffee brew method devices to test out. I have a cabinet full of various brew methods at home. Recently, I made such a trip and brought along with me the Cuppamoka by Wacaco.

Spro on the Go: The Wacaco Nanopresso

Because of its compact size and carrying case, the Nanopresso is perfect for life on the go. You can easily toss it into a bag. All you need is coffee (like our Trail Builders Blend), a hand grinder, the ability to heat water to 212F, and you have everything you need to brew espresso anywhere and everywhere you go. At $79.90 USD it won’t break the bank either.

Home Brewing with the Kalita Wave

As much as I love and look forward to brewing coffee early in the morning next to a campfire or even at a trailhead before I ride, most often when I am making coffee it is at home. Usually my first cup is brewed before the sun is up. With my eyes still blurry it would seem that the wisest thing to do would be to click a button and poof … coffee pours out of some contraption and into my cup. But for me, it’s a process. One that I love too. Not only that, but the process includes regularly experimenting with new ways to brew coffee.
